Hello, I’m Isabella Marina Varon.
I am a professional dancer, performer, and educator based in Detroit, Michigan. My favorite thing about Detroit is the people that live here. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I attended college in New York City, moved home during the pandemic, graduated on Zoom, and relocated to West Village in 2023. I find myself always in awe of the community, those that have built it, and those that have grown with it. This community is epically saturated with unapologetic creatives, rooted and wise elders, and beautiful families. I’m most passionate about bridging communities. You can often find me at the wine bar, one of them, by myself, never without a book. And the night always ends with friends that I’ve magically run into. That’s called happenstance. Everyone always introduces me as the dancer. Albeit true, I am a bridge that transports passion, dance, mentorship, and taste, and hosts culture and drive. I love sharing what I’m reading and what I’m listening to, attending shows and gatherings, hosting, thrifting, and shaping the generation of artists below me. Underneath that, lies my love for dancing. I’ve been dancing my entire life. I haven’t found anything better than what it feels like to be rehearsing, or performing, such a rigorous, physical, ephemeral, wild craft. The only thing I like better than dancing is music.
